HOPE CHARITY FOUNDATION NFP (“Hope Charity,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a United States 501(c)(3) public charity. Our Employer Identification Number (EIN) is 92-2722318. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share personal information when you visit hopenfp.org, contact us for program intake, volunteer, subscribe to updates, or make a donation. By using our website, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the site and contact us with questions before providing personal data.

2. Information we collect

We collect information you choose to provide and limited technical data generated by ordinary website use:

• Identity & contact data: name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and organization affiliation when submitted via forms or email.
• Program intake data: descriptions of support needs, household context you volunteer, preferred contact times, and related notes required to match you with helpline, relief, or youth programs.
• Donor data: gift amount, frequency (one-time or monthly), receipt email, employer matching details, and acknowledgment preferences.
• Volunteer data: availability, skills, emergency contact (if provided), and background-check status when required for certain roles.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, device category, referring URL, pages viewed, and approximate location derived from IP for security and analytics.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the public website without parental consent. Youth program enrollment for minors is handled through guardian-involved intake workflows.

3. How we use information

We use personal information only for legitimate nonprofit operations, including:

• Responding to helpline, relief, mentoring, volunteer, and partnership requests;
• Processing donations, issuing tax receipts, and completing employer matching verification;
• Maintaining corporate records, Form 990 / 990-N readiness, and board governance files;
• Improving website accessibility, security, and content clarity;
• Sending newsletters or event notices only when you opt in, with a clear unsubscribe path;
• Complying with law, responding to lawful requests, and protecting beneficiaries, staff, and donors from fraud or harm.

We do not use sensitive program narratives for marketing without explicit, separate consent. Stories published on our News page are anonymized or shared only with permission.

4. Cookies & similar technologies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use:

• Essential cookies: required for navigation, security, form integrity, and remembering cookie-consent choices (for example, localStorage key hcf_cookie_ok).
• Analytics cookies (optional): help us understand aggregate traffic patterns such as which program pages are most read.

You may refuse non-essential cookies via our on-site banner controls and your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may limit form functionality. Third-party embeds (for example, Google Maps on the Contact page) may set their own cookies subject to those providers’ policies.

5. Google Analytics & advertising compliance

If Google Analytics or Google Ads tags are installed on hopenfp.org — including in connection with Google Ad Grants — we configure them to support privacy-forward defaults where available (such as IP anonymization features offered by Google). Analytics data is used in aggregate to understand whether visitors find intake pathways, leadership transparency pages, and donation information.

We strive to comply with Google Ads / Ad Grants policies applicable to nonprofits, including maintaining a working website with substantive content, clear navigation, an accessible privacy policy, and accurate representation of our 501(c)(3) status (EIN 92-2722318). We do not use ads to collect sensitive personal information under false pretenses. Conversion tracking, if enabled, measures actions such as form opens or donate-page visits without selling personal data.

6. Donor privacy guarantee

We never sell, rent, or trade donor personal information. Donor lists are not shared with third parties for their independent marketing. Limited sharing occurs only with:

• Payment processors and banking partners needed to complete a transaction;
• Professional advisors (CPA, counsel) under confidentiality obligations;
• Regulators or auditors when legally required;
• Service providers who host email or website infrastructure under data-processing terms.

Donors may request to be excluded from acknowledgment lists or postal mailings by emailing admin@hopefoundationnfp.org. Anonymous gifts are honored when legally and operationally feasible, though tax receipts still require a contact pathway.

7. Your rights (CCPA / GDPR)

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain personal data, and to object to particular processing. California residents may have rights under the CCPA/CPRA to know, delete, and correct personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. Individuals in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom may have GDPR rights including access, rectification, erasure, portability, and complaint to a supervisory authority.

To exercise a privacy request, email admin@hopefoundationnfp.org with the subject line “Privacy Request,” include enough detail for us to locate your records, and allow us a reasonable period to verify identity and respond. We may retain certain records when required for tax, fraud prevention, or legal compliance even after a deletion request.

8. Contact, retention & changes

We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including IRS recordkeeping timelines for donation substantiation and program case files. Security measures include access-limited administrative accounts, SSL/TLS transport for the public site when hosted with HTTPS, and staff guidance against phishing.

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect legal, operational, or technical changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Material updates may also be noted on hopenfp.org.
